Windowmaker reengineers itself

Normally Windowmaker Software Ltd’s experience of new IT systems is as a supplier, not as the end-user. The company has offices in UK, India, Australia and Canada as well as partners in further countries. It has now completed a major project to update hardware and software at all sites.

"Nowadays, it is no longer necessary to find a single software package to run your company: it has become relatively easy to integrate different best-of-breed applications together into a single solution" explains Operations Director,Rima Singh. "We started by choosing Microsoft Dynamics NAV as our accounting software to replace Pegasus Opera. This uses a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database. When customer details are changed in the accounts database, the changes are automatically synchronised to Microsoft CRM, to Microsoft Exchange/Outlook email and to the Swyx soft- telephone system in all countries. If, for example, one of our customers in Quebec phones the Toronto office before normal office hours, the call can be answered by a French speaker in the UK or Indian offices, and that person will have immediate access on the screen to the complete history of accounting, license, support, development or simply email interactions with that customer. The technology boosts our productivity at the same time as improving our customer service."
